Case Study – Healthcare Product & Lifestyle Photography

The Challenge

The client needed a healthcare product asset library that could carry a full launch, not a handful of one-off images. That meant solving four problems at the same time.

Clean studio product photography. Every product in the line needed precise, controlled studio images that hold up on e-commerce listings, spec sheets, and packaging — where lighting, color accuracy, and edge detail get scrutinized.

Lifestyle photography showing real use. Studio images sell the product’s build quality. Lifestyle images sell the reason to buy it. The client needed both clinical and everyday-life applications photographed with real talent, in real environments, showing the product actually being used.

Stills and b-roll captured together. The brief called for a still and video asset library built in tandem, with the video component treated as optional if stills alone met the need. Capturing both in the same setups gave the client the most output per production dollar and kept the video and photography visually consistent instead of looking like two separate shoots.

The Production

Full-Service Lifestyle Photography

The lifestyle side of this healthcare photography production was handled end to end by Michael LoBiondo Photography:

  • Pre-production and concepting — shot lists, mood boards, and scene mapping built around each product’s real-world application
  • Location scouting and securing — identifying and locking environments that read as authentic clinical, home care, and workplace settings
  • Casting and professional talent — hiring pro talent who could handle the product credibly on camera
  • Hair and makeup styling — keeping talent camera-ready and consistent across a multi-scene shoot day
  • Set styling and wardrobe — dressing environments and talent so scenes look lived-in rather than staged
  • Photography and video capture — stills and optional b-roll shot from the same setups for visual continuity

In-Studio Product Photography

The studio component focused on staging and lighting built specifically for the product line — controlled, repeatable setups that show off material quality, finish, scale, and functional detail. Talent was brought into the studio environment where a hand or in-use frame communicated a feature faster than a product-only shot could.

Because the studio and lifestyle work were lit and color-managed as one project, the two sets of images sit side by side in a layout without looking like they came from different sources.

The Results

A complete asset library, delivered fast. The client walked away with a new, dynamic library covering several products in the line — enough depth to support a launch rather than patch a single campaign.

The library was built to deploy across the client’s full marketing stack:

  • Website product pages, hero banners, and category headers
  • E-commerce and retail listings
  • Packaging and print collateral
  • Sales enablement decks, one-sheets, and sell sheets
  • Trade show booths, backdrops, and large-format display graphics
  • Print and digital advertising
  • Email campaigns and product launch sequences
  • Organic and paid social, including vertical crops and short-form video cuts
  • Distributor and channel partner co-marketing kits
  • Product training and instructional materials
  • Press kits and media outreach

Studio and lifestyle used together. In practice, the client deployed the two sets in tandem across their marketing and advertising: the studio frame establishes the product, the lifestyle frame establishes the use case. That pairing did more work than either set could do alone.

Better return on a single shoot day. Shooting stills and b-roll from the same lit setups meant one crew call, one talent booking, one location secure — and two full deliverable formats out the other side.

Visual continuity across every channel. Because everything came from one production with consistent lighting, color, talent, and styling, assets intercut cleanly. Nothing on the site or in a deck looks borrowed from a different year or a different photographer.

Less dependence on stock. Generic stock healthcare imagery gets recognized — and it never shows the client’s actual product. This library replaced it with owned, product-accurate assets.

A repeatable production model. With concepting, casting, locations, and lighting approaches already established, adding new SKUs to the library becomes a shorter, cheaper production instead of a fresh start.
