Chemical Industrial Shoot

industrial-portrait-location-lab-worker-environment

This project involved mixed lighting and both interiors and exteriors. They had just finished a major upgrade so all the spaces were very clean.  This helps because you don’t spend a lot of time trying to hide backgrounds, trash, and other things.

We also had both hands on work and lots of technical items to punctuate the high-tech lab environment.

So we ended with some great imagery accentuated with lots of color.

Industrial Portrait – Paper Box Manufacturing

industrial-worker-location-safety-portrait

We did an industrial portrait in a box plant that pushes out thousands of feet of box material.  Our clients produce the glue that the plant uses so they have reps who constantly monitor the manufacturing to make sure that their product maintains the specs the manufacturer requires.

At the end of the line, a piece of corrugated gets a quick test to check the adhesive…

Oh baby it’s cold outside! Annual Report Photography

Michael LoBiondo Photography – Commercial Photographers Charlotte – Charlotte Photographers – Corporate Photographers

It’s getting cold around here in North Carolina and it made me think about all the things we go through shooting outside when it’s really cold and windy.  This shot was for an annual report for a bank that we shot near the Outer Banks of North Carolina.  There isn’t a crop in the field and the trees have all lost their leaves.  Wesley is the farmer, Buck is the Banker (can you guess?).  It’s 38degrees outside with a gusting 20mph wind.  These guys look comfortable as a cucumber.  In the van keeping warm is the art director, snug as a bug.  My assistant and I are so layered with clothes it’s tough to move.  I have some gloves with the tips of the fingers cut off.  A life saver.  Insulated jeans help, too.  Lot’s of battery power.  We’re in the middle of a field without a plug for miles!  The key is to work quickly.  I kept the “models” warm in the van while we set up.  They were in front of the camera for less than 5 minutes.  They have short hair (key) and the wind didn’t gust while we took these shots.  Drink lots of water when getting back in the van because this kind of cold dries you out fast.
What are they looking at?  The white caps and swells of the ocean about 50 yards away.  Did I mention the cold wind over the water??

Annual Report Photography-Where Is Your Compass Pointing?

Commercial Photography by Michael LoBiondo Photography-www.mlobiondo.com

Which way to go?

You ever have one of those days where your compass is a little …”lost”.  Well Krystel Green of CATS always knows where her busses and trains are going, where they’ve been, and probably who’s riding! She’s the Senior Marketing Rep for CATS and we had just finished up doing Annual Report photography of one of her committees.  When I said “grab the sign and smile” she gave me her best pearly whites.

So when you want to know where CATS or LYNX goes, go to ridetransit.org or just ask Krystel…she’ll set your compass straight…or north, south, east or west!!

Architectural Photography – Now’s the time

Architectural Photography

We are doing a lot of Architectural Photography now and put together this little piece.  We’re always looking for an interesting angle to photograph when interpreting the architect’s design.  Also, shooting at dusk gives us a unique perspective on the building, the lighting and space around it.

It’s also great to photograph the architects, developers or designers.  We also photograph the real workmen/women on the job but that’s for another blog post.

Industrial Photography: Why is this guy laughing??

Industrial Photography by Michael LoBiondo

Be Serious…

This is a popular reaction when I ask “Can you give me a serious look?”.  Most people then crack-up.  It’s all part of our customer service to get you laughing and lighten up the moment.  Relax…the camera loves’ you!!

“…look at what the shadow does…”

Photography by Michael LoBiondo specializing in people, corporate, industrial, and advertising.

Sometimes, the light just works for ya’!!  This is from an Annual Report shoot we did on an industrial location.  We shot a bunch of stuff with “regulation” eye wear so you could see the model and see where they’re eyes were looking.  There wasn’t any shadows on the papers and you could see all of his face.  After we got the shot the client liked in the can, I started to move him around so that the shadow coming through the paper started to become important.  I put him in sunglasses because I wanted to have the reflection of the paper and at the same time, NOT see his eyes.  Kind of an anonymous look. It also helped to bring the paper just high enough so you couldn’t recognize him. The paper became a big reflector to pump light back into his face so that he wouldn’t be in complete darkness.  Dramatic, playful, successful.  Keep looking!!

Michael LoBiondo Photography has a new downloadable portfolio

Charlotte Photographer Michael LoBiondo Annual Reports

From an Annual Report Photoshoot…

We have been working diligently, working hard, working all night and all day, just plain doing what it takes to produce photography for our clients and we wanted to share some of the new work with you.  Now the images are here in our  new virtual portfolio.  How else can you market and get your work to the masses 24/7?  We are very pleased that this is now out in the world and on the web.  You can view it here and even download it.

Let’s talk about this image.  This was shot at the end of day 2 while shooting on location.  The art director didn’t ask for it, the client didn’t know about it, my assistant said “your focus is just a little off!!”.  Talk about your selective focus.  I shot it just for the fun of it.  I love the backlight through the windows with the verticals and horizontals and the reds that pop through.  We all know it’s four people standing there but isn’t it more interesting this way?

So, take a look at our new portfolio and send us some comments.

Shooting with a 50mm standard lens

Bank Annual Report

We did a recent annual report and decided to use the 50mm lens for whatever shots we could.  I really loved the thin depth of field (1.8) and in this shot it worked very well.  I got used to using zooms and I think there’s something about using prime lenses that allows you to see differently.  Check out more on www.mlobiondo.com
